There has been a lot happening in the electronic components market in the country over the last one year. The government has been aggressively promoting electronics manufacturing and this, in turn, has ensured that the electronic components segment witnesses healthy growth. The government is expected to announce a corpus of ₹ 100 billion towards an Electronics Development Fund this month to provide financial assistance to domestic companies in its bid to encourage electronics manufacturing and innovation in the sector.
NASSCOM president R. Chandrashekhar has said that India’s strength in IT also includes strong design, engineering and R&D capabilities. According to him, “Engineering exports from India amounted to around US$ 18.1 billion in 2014-15. This is the fastest-growing segment within the IT industry. This is expected to reach US$ 40 billion by 2020. Design is something that you do before developing a product. IT is not delinked from manufacturing.”
All these developments are a boon for the electronic components distributors in the country and the road ahead seems to be quite exciting.
