Dry-block calibrator

In February 2013, Fluke Calibration launched the 9190A ultra-cool field metrology well, a small, lightweight and accurate dry-block calibrator with best-in-class stability. The 9190A is ideal for pharmaceutical, biomedical and food processing applications that demand strict quality control and regulatory process compliance, including on-location validation and calibration of RTDs, thermocouples, thermometers and other temperature sensors. It has a wide temperature range (-95 to +140°C) to cover the coldest and warmest temperatures required in pharmaceutical, biomedical and food processing applications, operating at ultra-cold temperatures not typically available with a calibration bath. The 9190A uses no bath fluids, keeping clean rooms clean, making it easier to transport, and delivering faster heating and cooling rates. It offers best-in-class temperature stability (±0.015°C) for consistent, accurate results.

Earth testers

In March 2013, Megger launched earth testers with elliptical apertures that can accommodate cables of up to 39mm in diameter and flat earth tapes that are up to 50mm wide. The DET14C and DET24C earth resistance clamp testers are quick and easy to use, even with large conductors and in applications where access to conductors is restricted. In addition, these instruments are the first of their type to have a CATIV 600V safety rating in line with EN61010, with 8kV of transient isolation; operator safety is further enhanced by a ‘hazardous current’ warning that is operative on all test ranges. To help ensure long-term accuracy and reliability, the instruments use clamps that have smooth mating jaw faces. These are easy to clean and eliminate the easily bent interlocking teeth found on most other earth resistance clamp testers.

Dual-channel arbitrary function generators

In March 2013, GW Instek launched the AFG-2225, its first basic level dual-channel arbitrary function generator, which provides superior features in its class. Both channels are equipped with the same characteristics to fit dual-signal applications such as differential or IQ signalling. The outstanding cost-performance value makes the AFG-2225 a practical instrument to accelerate the development process.

The major features for both channels include 10Vpp output amplitude, 25MHz frequency bandwidth with 1uHz resolution, as well as built-in waveforms of sine, square, ramp (triangle) and noise. For the arbitrary waveform, users can edit the 66 built-in waveforms or create a whole new one. Besides, the AFG-2225 features AM/FM/PM/FSK/SUM modulation, sweep, burst and a frequency counter, which can be applied to various communication fields.

High-sensitivity multi-port optical power meters

In March 2013, Agilent Technologies Inc introduced the two-channel N7747A and the four-channel N7748A, which combine the sensitivity of the 81634B sensor module with the compact multi-channel N77 platform, with an updated memory size and data-transfer speed.

The N7747A and N7748A optical power meters enable engineers to make parallel multi-port measurements, and monitor weak signals and small signal changes with high precision in communications or sensing applications. The meters can detect power levels down to 110dBm, and log data at intervals down to 25 µs with up to 1 million points per channel. An equally large data buffer supports simultaneous measurement and data transfer.
