Dual measurement multimeters

In August 2013, GW Instek launched the GDM-834x series, which has two models—GDM 8341 and GDM 8342, which have features like 50,000 counts, VFD dual-display and 0.02 per cent basic DC voltage accuracy. A USB protocol connector provides users with measurement precision, lucid data observation and the convenience of being able to connect to a personal computer. The GDM-834x series not only supports the fundamental measurements provided by general multimeters, but is also equipped with capacitance and temperature measurement functions. It also has many auxiliary functions to meet the measurement requirements for tests during manufacturing process, educational experiments and testing facilities.

Generator monitoring unit

In August 2013, ElMeasure launched ‘Gen Duos’ for the generator industry. The product has a dual display and monitors five key electrical parameters of a genset thus eliminating the use of multiple meters, and thereby reducing costs and simplifying wiring. It continuously displays the kWh parameter along with voltage, amps or Hz, depending on what the user wants. The kWh display is a 6½-digit non-resettable stepper counter and the VAF display is a 4-digit bright LED. The meter is programmable for three-phase and single-phase applications. It has one common CT and PT setting for all the monitoring values, which can be made through the front panel keys and ensures higher reliability.

Vector network analysers

In August 2013, Anritsu expanded its VectorStar family of vector network analysers (VNAs) with the introduction of the MS4640B series. These Network analysers feature a number of new cutting-edge measurement capabilities, including PulseView, which provides pulse profile, point-in-pulse and pulse-to-pulse measurements of S-parameters, and DifferentialView for true mode stimulus S-parameter measurements. The MS4640B series helps engineers address the challenges associated with testing and characterising components and sub-systems designed for radar and today’s high-speed serial applications. VectorStar VNAs are available in frequency ranges from 70 kHz to 20, 40, 50 and 70 GHz and as broadband systems from 70 kHz to 125 GHz.

Compact broadband amplifier

In September 2013, Rohde & Schwarz launched the R&S BBA150 broadband amplifier with a frequency range from 2.5 GHz to 6.0 GHz. The amplifiers, which have been optimised for high frequencies, deliver high output power, and are still compact and lightweight. The modularity of the amplifiers makes it possible to configure complete systems flexibly to meet user requirements. The amplifier design yields up to 200 W of output power in just four height units. The broadband amplifiers feature outstanding mismatch tolerance and can handle both short-circuit at the RF end and an open RF output. This reduces both downtime and costs.
