In June 2014, National Instruments launched Virtual Bench, which has five of the most essential, unique instruments needed by any designer/engineer – the mixed signal oscilloscope, digital input/output, programmable power supply, digital multimeter and function generator – incorporated into a single benchtop instrument, and controlled using PCs or tablets that run on Windows and iOS operating systems (soon to be launched on Android too). This reduces the number of separate instruments, the space required and the cost. The connectivity options are similar to traditional methods and the scope’s ports are compatible with many standard ports for connectors available in the market these days. The feature that makes Virtual Bench revolutionary is the mixed signal oscilloscope.
