In May 2014, Philips Lumileds launched the LUXEON CoB 1211 arrays that deliver a high flux and efficiency in higher lumens packages. The new LUXEON CoB 1211 is good for industrial and outdoor applications and is a suitable replacement for 70W and 100W equivalent ceramic discharge metal halide (CDM) lamps. It delivers an efficacy of 100-130lm/W, depending on the colour temperature and CRI of the luminaire. It achieves cool white output exceeding 10,000lm and 100lm/W at 70 CRI, with a light emitting surface (LES) of only 19mm. These products enable low cost luminaire design, which results in high flux LEDs with low thermal resistance substrates. They reduce heat sink needs and with an existing ecosystem of compatible holders, drivers and optics, these CoBs enable faster time to market.
