In November 2012, Kontron released a dual-port, 10 GB XMC402 mezzanine card.
Features: XMC402 features 10 GB Intel Ethernet controller, X540, and two copper interfaces. Existing infrastructures with common CAT6+ cables are sufficient to establish 10 GB interconnects. The XMC402 not only delivers high transfer rates but also efficient data throughput, as it unburdens the CPU by using intelligent mechanisms such as checksum offload, TCP segmentation offload and reduced interrupt operations. By supporting Intel’s virtualisation technology for connectivity, including on-chip QoS and traffic management, flexible port partitioning as well as virtual machine device queues, XMC402 optimises the bandwidth demands of even the most complex virtualisation solutions for current multi-core and multi-processor installations.
