Chennai Corporation has announced plans to install more than 6000 LED streets lights in the city. This will be done by end of the year, according to the reports.
Chennai Corporation is now focusing on the energy and power area and wants to enhance the brightness in the city. To that, Corporation will work on the energy efficiency and provide effective street lighting.
According to reports, Chennai Corporation will replace CFL bulbs with LEDs and age old sodium lamps in both interior roads and arterial roads. It has alloted an amount of 1.5 billion to the electrical department, in this year’s fiscal budget.
Looking at the lighting segment, Chennai Corporation has taken initiatives to supply residents with functional street lights and considering the requests from Kodambakkam residence, the corporation decided to install LED streets lights by replacing old lamp posts and lights.
LED street lights will be installed at Perambur High Road, Thirumangalam Main Road, Ramandhiram Street in Villivakkam, KK Nagar, MMDA Colony Main Road, Luz Church Road, Burkit Road and South Usman Road.
