The Government of India already supporting a number of clusters based on automotive, footwear, coir, embroidery etc in the district but the EMC will be the first amongst the electronics to get the Government’s support.
The general manager of operations at Kramski, S Nagarajansaid, said that Vellore had the perfect climatic conditions and geographical location which consists of extreme heat with low humidity conditions to be called as an ideal location for Electronics cluster. And the area also has a number of tiny, small and medium enterprises which are already involved in manufacturing value added components to support electronic industries.
Nagarajan also mentioned that Kramski is looking forward to help the local entrepreneurs in utilising the Modified Special Incentives Package Scheme (MSIPS) on which the Government has already allocated around Rs 10,000 crore. The first step would be to acquire a government notification for the district in order to promote the EMC and after that any entrepreneur who is willing to be a part can approach the DEITY for assistance.
