- ZTE’s competitor Huawei is also open to start 5G radio manufacturing in India
- ZTE plans to not only make for India but also for potential customers in foreign countries
According to a report by Economic times, ZTE is seriously looking to start local manufacturing for set-top-box (STBs) and customer premises equipment (CPE) devices and radio products in India for domestic and export purposes. The report said that Xiao Ming, president, ZTE global sales told Economic Times that the company is looking at being a real localised player in the country. He also added the company wants to not only make for India but also for potential customers in foreign countries.
As per the report, Xiao Ming further said that that the company will see if the industry comes to a serious 5G stage and then given the size of the Indian market, the demand can be surprising. The company says it will pick up its plans once India finalises 5G deployment plans. The report also said that ZTE is also open to working with the IT companies and startups in India to bring local use cases since some global 5G use cases might be irrelevant for India.
Huawei open to start 5G radio manufacturing in India
According to a recent report by Economic Times, Huawei has informed that it is open to start 5G radio manufacturing in India with previous-generation technologies gear like 2G and 4G. Ericsson is also exporting its 4G products and microwave equipment for 2G and 3G from its manufacturing facility in Pune to Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand says the report. The company is also evaluating 5G telecom gear from this facility.
