Yulu Debuts Electric Mobility In Pondicherry, Its Tenth Indian City

Yulu, an Indian electric vehicle mobility firm, has introduced an environmentally friendly transportation solution in Pondicherry in partnership with Green Drive Pondicherry. This project seeks to tackle the issues of traffic and pollution associated with tourism in the area.

Yulu, an electric vehicle (EV) mobility technology enterprise based in India, recently initiated its services in Pondicherry through a collaborative effort with Green Drive Pondicherry, a regional organization. The inauguration ceremony was held at Pondy Marina and was graced by the presence of numerous government dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Puducherry.

Under this partnership, Green Drive Pondicherry will manage Yulu’s Miracle EVs operations within the city. This expansion into Pondicherry is a continuation of Yulu’s Business Partner program, which has already been successfully implemented in cities like Indore, Kochi, and Tirunelveli.

Pondicherry, a city famed for its scenic attractions, confronts significant issues with traffic congestion and environmental pollution. Yulu’s introduction of EVs offers a sustainable mode of transportation that is accessible without a driver’s license and can reach speeds up to 25 kmph.

Amit Gupta, the Co-founder and CEO of Yulu, remarked that this launch is in line with their strategic goal to sustainably develop transportation in non-metropolitan areas of India. K. Prakathesh, the Founder of Green Drive Pondicherry, shared his positive outlook on the venture’s potential to promote sustainable tourism in the region.

These EVs will be stationed at designated spots across Pondicherry, enabling tourists and casual riders to conveniently navigate through the city’s various locales. Yulu has contributed significant support, including the provision of EVs, technological expertise, training, and establishing connections with local entities in the hospitality sector.

Additionally, a battery swapping station installed by Yuma will cater to the energy requirements of the EV fleet.

This development signifies Yulu’s entry into its tenth city, as the company continues to expand its footprint across India, operating through both direct ownership and franchise partnerships.
