- Wipro plans to expand its 5G labs throughout 2020 globally
- It will build an optimized operations model, using hyper automation through Wipro Holmestm AI and automation system
Information technology major Wipro has teamed up with Telecom Infra Project (TIP) to drive 5G adoption in the global communications service provider and enterprise markets. Wipro will be investing in the creation of a TIP-based blueprint for a 5G mobile network operator (MNO) reference architecture and a next generation 5G operational model.
Sanjay Bhartiya, vice president, industrial and engineering services, Wipro Limited, said, “Our Engineering Nxt approach is the synthesis of our broad industry design experience for creating connected devices, software and data platforms to drive customer innovation at scale. Working within TIP, we will be able to deliver the next generation wireless solutions that will have the potential to revolutionize the wireless industry.”
Expand 5G labs globally
Wipro says the 5G TIP investment will work in four areas. This will include physical end-to-end integration and validation of OpenRan technologies developed in the TIP community. It will create a cost-effective, autonomous 5G-ready, open-source- based operational support system (OSS) or business support system (BSS) platform that will use machine learning and advanced analytics for new business models and revenue streams.
Wipro will also build an end-to-end cyber security model and an optimized operations model, using hyper automation through Wipro Holmestm AI and automation system. In 2018, Wipro created its 5G engineering and set up a 5G lab in Bangalore. Wipro says it plans to expand its 5G labs throughout 2020 globally.
