Indian IT Company Wipro announced a partnership with the Centre for Brain Research, IISC to develop new AI technologies for managing long-term health disorders.
On Tuesday, Wipro Limited declared a joint venture with the Centre for Brain Research (CBR), an autonomous, non-profit research organisation, hosted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The partnership aims to create novel technologies that offer targeted assistance in preventing and managing chronic health conditions. This will be achieved by leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and big data analytics.
The Research and Development team of Wipro will design and develop a personal care engine. This AI-based software will consider an individual’s medical background, preferred health goals, and behavioral reactions. Its primary goal will aim to encourage healthy aging, positive lifestyle modifications, and enhance psycho-social well-being. This will significantly improve an individual’s health over an extended period.
By using AI to interact with users, the emphasis of the software will be on mitigating and controlling the risk of cardiovascular disease and associated neurodegenerative conditions. Wipro has mentioned that they will test the engine through a digital app-based trial together with CBR, IISc. This trial will provide insights into the software’s effectiveness in contexts that are related to long-term health results.
“Our personal care engine enables wide-ranging applications and benefits for health management. It has the potential to mitigate lifestyle-related conditions and even enhance cognitive and psychosocial functioning,” says Subha Tatavarti, Chief Technology Officer, Wipro. Dr.Ajay Chander, head of the R&D team in Wipro hopes that this collaboration will innovate solutions merging computing and cognitive sciences, delivering personalised care for global chronic health issues.
On the other hand, Professor K.V.S. Hari, Director, CBR, said that working with Wipro will allow them to amplify scientific expertise through large-scale digital applications. While Wipro aims to promise widespread health benefits at reduced expenses, CBR sees this partnership accelerating a path from research to real-world solutions.
