Will India decide to impose duties on imports of solar equipment?

Tuesday, August 13, 2013: According to Solar Independent Power Producers Association, next week India may decide whether to impose duties on imports of solar equipment. The deadline for submissions of a government study on imports has expired on July 25.

Indosolar Ltd, Jupiter Solar Power Ltd and Websol Energy System Ltd had pushed the government for an investigation and the study, pointing out foreign competitors from the US, China, Taiwan and Malaysia had sold products in India at below cost. Last month, they also asked the government to expand the probe to imports from the European Union and Japan as well.
