Western Digital Corp, US-based data storage company and manufacturer of computer hard disk drive, on Thursday, launched a latest range of storage solutions to cater to the data management requirements of mobile phone market. The latest range of products introduced include SanDisk Memory Zone (SMZ) App and SanDisk Extreme(R) microSD card (400GB) for the end customers, and iNAND MC EU321 flash drive for mobile phone makers.
Speaking on the launch, Sven Rathjen, VP – Marketing, Western Digital Corporation, said, “In the last few years, with advanced technologies such 8K video and HDR content, we are generating a lot of rich data. Today, the way digital content is captured, preserved, accessed and transformed through our mobile phones requires us to evaluate how we efficiently manage this plethora of content.”

MicroSD card for smartphones
The new SanDisk Extreme MicroSD (400GB) card launched by the company is specifically designed for Android smartphones, action cameras and drones. SanDisk Extreme microSDXCTM UHS-1 card offers extreme speed in transfer of data. This new microSD card can handle 4K UHD video recording, high-resolution photos and full HD video and. SanDisk Extreme microSDXC™ memory card is super-fast and can write up to 90MB/s and can read up to 160MB/s. The card has received an A2 rating that makes it an ideal for exceptional smartphone experience. The card is competitively prices at Rs. 22,000.
SMZ App to organise and access content
SanDisk Memory Zone (SMZ) App introduced by Western Digital allows users to organise and access their content stored on phone, or the cloud or a microSD card. In addition, the app allows the consumers to keep a backup of their photos, contacts, videos and social media accounts. They can also create an automatic backup on SanDisk Dual Drive. The SMZ App enables users to store and delete their photos or videos from common chat applications thus freeing up space on their smartphones.
Flash drive for data-intensive devices
Western Digital’s latest offering iNAND® MC EU321 embedded flash drive (EFD) would utilise the company’s 96-layer 3D NAND technology and cutting-edge UFS 2.1 interface technology that enable the consumer to have an exceptional experience for data-intensive smartphones and mobile devices. The latest embedded flash drive is designed to maintain high and persistent performance even as devices approaches full capacity through usage of applications like 4K video, high resolution photography, slow motion video, virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence (AI).
