Saturday, December 20, 2014: While giving confidence to the stakeholders and members of ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and industry in India) about the progress of West Bengal, Amit Mitra, state finance minister, noted during an event that MSMEs in West Bengal have hired one million individuals during the past three years.
He said that since 2011, after the All India Trinamool Congress came to power, over 0.3 million people were employed directly and one million people were indirectly employed by MSMEs. The bank lending funds to the MSME was Rs. 104,000 million in 2012-13, which has now grown up to Rs 218,000 million and perhaps leading to a rise in Bengal GDP to 8.62 per cent as compared to India’s by 4.62 per cent. He said that, “An end to end integrated textile park is planned at the site.” He then even noted about the land which is present near the Hindustan Motors factory at Hooghly district has recently been cleared for Rs 65,000 million worth investment.
Inviting the members of ASSOCHAM to operate on the recently-developed tourism spots in West Bengal, Mitra had told about the 100 acres of land which was available near the tiger reserve in Jharkhali in Sunderbans in South 24 Parganas district.
