Thursday, August 14, 2014: A 250 MW solar project has been announced by the West Bengal government, to be set up in Purulia. The project will cost Rs 14,000 million. Touted to be the largest solar project in India, this plant will get linked to the 900 MW Purulia pump storage project.
Latest developments about the project have been confirmed by the West Bengal Power Minister, Manish Gupta. Gupta spoke about the project to media persons at the sidelines of a CII seminar. According to Gupta the project is expected to achieve its financial closure during this fiscal term only.
Union government’s clean energy fund is due to sponsor 40 per cent of the project and the rest will be funded by other multilateral sources.
