Wednesday, September 25, 2013: India’s one of the leading renewable energy generators, Welspun Energy Ltd., received ‘Solar Power Developers’ award by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh gave the award to Vineet Mittal, Co-founder and Managing Director, Welspun Energy. This award was given to him because his company was the first one to commission a 5MW solar project in the state of Andhra Pradesh under JNNSM Phase-1 Batch-I.
The ceremony took place on 21 of September, 2013 at the Police Lines Stadium, Panipech in Jaipur. Those who attended the ceremony included Margaret Alva, Governor Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, CM Rajasthan and Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister, MNRE.
This award was meant to acknowledge Welspun Energy’s capability to commission the projects before the proposed deadline. Moreover, the function was part of the Solar Power Developers Meet arranged by MNRE. Quick completion of the project indicates the expertise held by Welspun Energy in solar project development.
“I congratulate the entire team of Welspun Energy for their achievement. I’m happy to note that private solar power developers across the nation, have started completing their projects well ahead in time, thus helping the government achieve it’s renewable energy target within the set deadline,” Dr. Farooq Abdullah was quoted as saying in a report.
