Tuesday, December 24, 2013: We yesterday reported about the MNRE performance report wherein it was stated that the solar performance in the month of November went down a bit in comparison to the previous month. So here’s some good news too. Reportedly, Welspun Energy Ltd., which is the biggest developer of solar photo-voltaic projects in India has finally completed an 8 MW plant in southern Karnataka state.
This solar plant, which is located in Chitradurga will be supplying state-run utility Mangalore Electric Supply Co and is being said to generate 12,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. This power is enough for 33,600 households, Welspun stated in an e-mailed statement.
According to a Bloomberg report, the developer, which is a part of Leon Black’s Apollo Global Management LLC-backed Welspun Group, has 262 megawatts of operating wind and solar projects. The firm has plans to increase its clean-energy capacity by more than sixfold to 1,750 megawatts over the next three years.
