EB: What business strategies do you follow in India?

To meet the increasing demand for advanced and efficient T&M solutions at a highly competitive price has become our prime challenge. Further, we are committed to offering our best-in-class products to a variety of markets and customers spread all over India. To meet this goal, GW Instek has established an organised channel network in India, which enables us to deliver our services promptly and add value to our customers. With this, GW Instek strives to serve the Indian market more effectively and gain a bigger market share by providing highly innovative and advanced T&M solutions.

EB: How do you maintain an edge over other brands in the market?

GW Instek strictly adheres to its core philosophy and goal, which is to offer products with the lowest total cost of ownership. Together, our experience and expertise at GW Instek allow us to deliver high performance test solutions that address the unique requirements of each client. We create a difference by offering products with one of the industry’s best price vs performance ratios, backed by comprehensive after sales support and warranties. It is all about creating value for our partners and customers by providing reliable and high quality measurement products with the lowest total cost of ownership.

EB: What are the different verticals that Good Will Instrument focuses on?

GW Instek has more than 300 products, ranging from oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, signal sources and AC/DC power sources to basic T&M instruments like digital multimeters, LCR meters, electrical safety testers and a few special application instruments. Just like our product range, we cater to diverse verticals including defence and avionics, automotive, medical, semiconductor, telecommunications, consumer and industrial electronics, research and education.

EB: Could you elaborate on the challenges faced while designing next-gen products for each of these verticals?

The dynamic technological advancements in semiconductor chips, displays, networking and communication technologies demand T&M manufacturers to be in sync with the fast pace of change. Also, the increasingly complex testing requirements and environments drive T&M manufacturers to improve and incorporate features like multi-channel testing, higher bandwidth and memory, touch screens, smarter graphical user interfaces and enhanced portability of instruments. Therefore, a T&M manufacturer has to meet the increasing demand for advanced and efficient T&M solutions at highly competitive prices.

EB: Could you elaborate on the R&D being done by the company to make its products suitable for all applications?

Our focus at GW Instek is on innovation that concentrates on generating value for the end-user—represented by a lower total cost of ownership. This is about innovation based on flexibility, manageability and efficient performance in real-world test applications. We believe in logical innovation that offers more choice, straightforward answers, and enhances our ability to provide ‘made to measure’ solutions. We call this ‘customer-focused’ innovation. By listening to our customers around the world, we are able to anticipate their needs and respond quickly to emerging trends. So when one of our customers introduces an exciting new technology, GW Instek is ready to test it.

EB: What are the standards Good Will products comply with?

GW Instek’s products are capable of performing accurately, durably and reliably in the most demanding test environments because the company has built robust processes to verify product quality. We stick to high standards in product design, verification and manufacturing. We have 40 in-house quality and performance verification tests, and each product passes through these tests before it leaves our facilities. This thorough process starts with environmental, safety and durability testing in the product design phase, through to burn-in and shipping tests ahead of final inspection and packing. Our manufacturing facilities adhere to ISO 14001 environmental management, ISO 9001:2008 quality management system standards and European CE safety regulations as well.

EB: According to you, what are the most innovative products made by Good Will? What special features do they have that make them innovative?

When it comes to our best innovations and features, our GDS-2000A and GDS-3000 series digital storage oscilloscopes are equipped with a built-in self-developed waveform image processing system, which significantly enhances the waveform capture rate. We call this VPO (Visual Persistence Oscilloscope) technology.

The very unique split screen feature of the GDS-3000 series allows each input channel to be operated independently with its respective setting and waveform display. The time base, the vertical sensitivity and the trigger selections can be done by each channel separately, and the waveform of each input signal can be shown on the individual part of the screen. This is akin to nearly four-DSOs-in-one, and is very useful for applications that need the details of multiple waveforms with very different characteristics to be viewed simultaneously.

Further, our GSP-930 is a 3GHz spectrum analyser designed on a new generation platform. The high stability, large screen display, light weight and compact size of the GSP-930 have created a benchmark—setting a new standard for 3GHz spectrum analysers in the market. Its advanced features, spectrogram and topography, greatly expand the application range and elevate the importance of a spectrum analyser’s role as the irreplaceable RF analysis instrument.
