January 16, 2015: Mumbai based Waaree Energies has taken up the task to develop 44MW solar projects in Central Japan. The project, approved by Japan’s ministry of economy, technology and industry (METI), is being developed under a feed-in tariff with Tokyo Electric Power at 36 Yen per KwH. The project is targeted for completion in a period of three years.
Waaree Japan KK came into being in 2014 in Tokyo with its primary focus in developing the Japanese market for developing projects and the sale of PV modules. Apart from UK, US and the Middle East regions, Japan is a key market for Waaree.
In Surat, Waaree Energies is already running a PV module manufacturing plant with a capacity of 250MW. Waree has a collaboration with GT Advanced Technologies and plans to undertake technology development and manufacturing in the solar power sector and deliver innovative slar products to the Indian market.
