Aiming to hire 500+ engineers and drive automotive tech innovation, Visteon is set to launch an advanced centre of excellence in Kolkata by 2025.
Visteon Corporation, a US-based company specialising in automotive cockpit electronics and connected car solutions, has announced the opening of a new global capability centre (GCC) in Kolkata, India. Scheduled to begin operations in January 2025, the centre aims to strengthen the company’s presence in India.
The facility will initially employ 300 engineers by the end of 2026, with plans to expand to over 500 engineers within two to three years. It will focus on cutting-edge areas like Android-based infotainment, autonomous vehicle solutions, cybersecurity, multimedia, remote projection, and cloud technologies.
According to Visteon, Kolkata was chosen for its strong talent pool and proximity to leading engineering colleges, making it an ideal location for the project.
“India has been central to our strategy for over 20 years, with over 2,000 of our people driving automotive innovation,” noted the company president and CEO Sachin Lawande. He mentioned further, “We are glad to strengthen our team with Kolkata’s engineering expertise and collaborate with the city’s top universities to support the evolving needs of automakers worldwide.”
The centre also claims to be a USGBC LEED Platinum-certified facility, incorporating solar panels and water recycling systems to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.
Visteon’s Indian operations include technical centres in cities such as Chennai, Goa, and Bengaluru. The company’s India teams have made strides in connected car technology. To support future growth, Visteon is expanding its early career programmes and forming partnerships with top universities across India.
