Friday, January 17, 2014: A new new manufacturing unit by Videocon Industries will produce one million products in a year. Officials have confirmed that the manufacturing unit will be founded in Punjab or in Madhya Pradesh. This new opening of the manufacturing unit armed with latest technical equipments will increase the production of set-top-boxes (STB).
Recently, the DTH section of the Videocon has been getting more attention in the market. In the 2013-14 budget, the Finance Minister has increased the level of import duty from 5 per cent to 10 per cent. In October, 2013, the organisation experienced a hike in the STB market.
After the Indian Government announced their plan to convert the television market through the digitisation process. Digitisation using the DTH services has gained popularity all over the country recently.
The arrival of the cable connection system had reduced the demand of STB services earlier. However, as soon as the Government announced the mandatory set top box installation for the digitisation of every television in the country, users are now rushing to purchase set-top-boxes to get the maximum benefits of getting a clear picture.
This demand of STB has seen the enhancement of the production capacity of Videocon, which results in the founding of a manufacturing unit. It is believed that arrival of the manufacturing unit will handle the excess demand of the customers.
