Valeo is set to supply Mahindra’s upcoming battery EVs with localized electric motors, inverters, gearboxes, and a comprehensive 3-in-1 bi-directional power electronics system, incorporating an onboard charger, DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit. The deal is valued at nearly one billion dollars.
Valeo has secured a deal with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) to supply electric powertrains for a segment of M&M’s ‘Born Electric’ passenger vehicle platform. Additionally, Valeo will provide an onboard charger for M&M’s electric utility vehicles. This deal, worth nearly a billion dollars, was included in Valeo’s third-quarter high-voltage powertrain orders.
Valeo announced plans to set up production near Mahindra’s Pune plant in Maharashtra, India, to localize the electric powertrain manufacturing. This production will include electric motors, inverters, gearboxes, and an integrated 3-in-1 bi-directional Combo power electronics unit, combining the Onboard Charger (OBC), DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit (PDU).
Xavier Dupont, President of Valeo Powertrain Systems Business Group, emphasized Valeo’s commitment to electrification and its role in meeting the rising demand with locally developed and manufactured solutions. He noted this partnership as a significant step in the Indian EV market.
