Sunday, June 23, 2013: With an aim to popularise solar plants in residential buildings, the science and technology wing of the UT administration has sought 50 per cent subsidy to go solar.
According to a report by TOI, the science and technology wing of the UT has requested the science and technology ministry to help them with 50 per cent subsidy for the installation of solar energy plants in the city. These plants will be installed at 40 houses of the city.
“Out of these 40 houses, one kilowatt solar plant will be installed at 30 houses, while two kilowatt solar plant will be set up in 10 houses. We have also decided to simplify the procedure to avail the subsidy so that applicants can get 50 per cent grant from our office instead of going to Delhi to avail the facility,” Santosh Kumar, director, science and technology wing of the UT, was quoted as saying.
According to the report, 30 per cent subsidy is being offered by authorities for the installation of solar plants in the city.
