The Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Tech City, an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, at Bongara, Palasbari under Kamrup district in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for Information Technology, Keshab Mahanta on the sidelines of Advantage Assam – Global investors Summit that is currently underway at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati.
This electronics manufacturing cluster will have state-of-the-art facilities for manufacturing electronic products along with other manufacturing support services such as BPO, ESDM Skill Development Centre, Data Centre, Testing Lab, Tool Room, etc.
They also launched the NIXI Node – Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Guwahati, which is the country’s first and only Neutral Internet Exchange.
They also launched a few products designed and developed by the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) under the Ministry of Electronics and information Technology which include a microwave tea drying system, universal moisture meter and a radio frequency based disinfestation system.
The Union Minister also laid the foundation stone for a centre of Excellence for Application Security (CoEAS) for NIC, Assam and handed over master Service Agreements for a total of five BPO units to Anjaybee and Tatva Technologies Limited. The five BPOs will come up at Nagaon, Kokrajhar, Diphu and Silchar. The minister announced that a total of five citizen centric services of Assam will be loaded into the UMANG mobile phone application, reported Guwahati Plus.
