The company’s growth into Ayodhya embodies its ‘India to Bharat’ strategy, aiming to broaden its reach and diversify its services across an increasing number of local markets.
Uber, the prominent ride-hailing service in India, recently inaugurated its electric rickshaw service in the historical town of Ayodhya, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presiding over the event. This launch, occurring under the well-known Uber Auto category, is timed strategically before the Ram Mandir Consecration in Ayodhya. With the introduction of EV Autos, Uber is also set to commence UberGo, its most cost-effective car service, and Uber Intercity, a rapidly expanding mobility solution catering to all inter-city travel needs from key locations within Uttar Pradesh to Ayodhya.
This holistic strategy is designed to enhance connectivity to the temple city, aiming to significantly boost tourism, facilitate easier travel, and spur economic development in the region, as highlighted in a recent press release.
Prabhjeet Singh, the President of Uber India and South Asia, made remarks regarding the expansion, emphasizing that the initiative aims to enhance transportation options for tourists and pilgrims while providing new income avenues for the locals. He stressed Uber’s dedication to boosting Ayodhya’s tourism, ensuring a seamless travel experience for visitors, and contributing to sustainable economic growth.
This expansion into Ayodhya is a critical part of Uber’s broader growth strategy in India, embodying the company’s ‘India to Bharat’ vision. This strategy focuses on extending Uber’s presence and diversifying its service offerings across an increasing number of regional markets.
