- U.S and Vietnam have announced comprehensive workforce development initiatives
The United States and Vietnam have recently collaborated to expand Hanoi’s semiconductor ecosystem capabilities. The United States has recognised Vietnam’s sustainable semiconductor supply chains, notably by expanding the capacity of trusted partners where it cannot be moved to the United States.
“The recently signed memorandum of cooperation on semiconductor supply chains, workforce and ecosystem development formalises this bilateral partnership to expand the potential of Vietnam’s semiconductor ecosystem in support of U.S. industry,” said a statement released by the White House.
The statement revealed that the United States will support Vietnam in developing further Vietnam’s current semiconductor ecosystem, regulatory framework, and workforce and infrastructure needs.
Both countries have also announced comprehensive workforce development initiatives in Vietnam. They also plan to develop hands-on training labs and courses in semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging.
The U.S. Government has also shared plans to initiate seed funding of US$2 million to launch the initiatives, with future support from the Vietnamese government and the private sector. This initiative will be helpful for people who are searching for jobs. So, it will create employment also.
