TVS India has invested around Rs. 6 crores to co-produce 200-250cc electric bike with Ultraviolette Automotive and launch it in India by 2019
Motorcycle major, TVS India has planned to extend its support to a Bengaluru-based green mobility startup, Ultraviolette Automotive to introduce its new range of electric bikes in India. This co-created bike has planned to reach 138 km per hour top speed.
TVS has claimed in a statement that its electric bike will come at an affordable range with attractive designs, features. Its focus will be on performance and quality. Unlike other electric bikes that promise 120-150 km riding range, TVS plans to offer a ride of over 150 km on a single charging.
Electric bike testing
TVS flagged off its testing phase in 2016 and reports revealed that it was tested for over 10000 km. Apart from producing the electric bike, the Bengaluru-based startup would be setting up charging stations in the city and later expand its network to other major cities. TVS India has planned to bring out the bike in the 200cc range and the aim is to secure the tag of the fastest motorcycle in India.
The electric bike is currently in the development stage and is expected to debut in 2019. Ultraviolette Automotive will be launching an electric scooter and then the TVS electric bike will be introduced.
