March 16, 2015: Trina Solar Limited, a chinese solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer has received a contract from ACME Cleantech Solutions Ltd, based in India, to supply 48MW of solar modules. According to the agreement, Trina Solar will supply around 88,000 Honey modules TSM-PC05A in the first quarter of the year 2015.
These modules will be positioned on two earth-mounted solar power plants that are expected to generate 81.6GW of solar power per year. The power will help in lowering the carbon emissions in India, thereby reducing pollution.
ACME has been receiving solar PV modules from Trina Solar since 2013 and, with this fresh agreement, the entire supply of solar modules will compass 70MW.
India has a vast demand for power and the government here is taking all possible steps to promote renewable energy in order to reduce the pressure on conventional energy sources and subsequently, lowering the pollutions levels in the country. The government has set a target of producing nearly 1,75,000MW power through non-conventional energy sources by the year 2022. The solar energy will contribute 100,000MW, wind energy to contribute 60,000MW, biomass to 10,000MW and 5000MW will be contributed by hydroelectricity.
