The project integrates advanced single-axis trackers with 560 Wp and 565 Wp bifacial modules, offsetting 780,300 tonnes of CO₂ annually while ensuring reliable power for Western Central Railways and MP Power Management Co. Ltd.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and a leader in India’s renewable energy sector, has announced the successful commissioning of its 431 MW DC solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. This milestone marks a significant advancement in India’s renewable energy landscape, achieved through a competitive bidding process that positioned the project as one of the country’s most cost-efficient large-scale solar initiatives.
The project, sprawling across 1,635.63 acres, is the first in India to integrate advanced single-axis trackers and bi-facial modules, enhancing system efficiency by over 15%. This pioneering technology combination ensures peak power supply for longer durations, setting a new standard for solar energy generation. Despite challenges such as rocky terrain, remote logistics, and transmission line readiness, the project was completed successfully, demonstrating Tata Power Renewables’ engineering expertise and commitment to sustainability.
The solar project is projected to offset 780,300 tonnes of CO2 annually and adheres to stringent engineering standards. Equipped with SCADA systems, Static Var Generator (SVG), and harmonic filters, the facility complies with WRLDC guidelines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This initiative underscores TPREL’s commitment to sustainability and regional energy resilience. With this commissioning, TPREL’s renewable energy portfolio has expanded to 10.9 GW, including 5.4 GW operational capacity—4.4 GW in solar and 1 GW in wind energy. The company has an additional 5.5 GW in various stages of implementation, further cementing its leadership in the renewable energy sector.
Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh’s New and Renewable Energy Department, praised the collaboration, emphasizing the project’s role in demonstrating cost-effective and scalable renewable energy solutions crucial for India’s green energy transition. “This landmark project reinforces our dedication to leading India’s transition to green energy,” said Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of TPREL. “By leveraging innovative technologies and maintaining high efficiency, we’re not only reducing carbon emissions but also supporting critical infrastructure, including Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Co. Ltd.”
