Investing $200 billion, Toyota Kirloskar Motor partners with the Maharashtra government to set up a greenfield manufacturing plant, boosting the region’s job creation and economic growth.
On Wednesday, Automaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced its plans to set up a new manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, a move that could potentially transform the region. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to explore establishing a greenfield manufacturing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The proposed investment of around $200 billion, to be made over a multi-year period, is expected to lead to significant job creation and economic growth in the region.
Under the project, 400,000 electric and hybrid cars are expected to be manufactured annually with an investment of $200 billion, generating 8,000 direct jobs and 8,000 indirect employment. This project will revolutionise the automobile sector.
Commenting on the MOU, Ms Manasi Tata, Vice Chairperson, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, emphasised that the company’s focus on “Make in India” and “Skill India” will enable it to implement a sustainable, long-term growth strategy. This strategy will enable it to offer cleaner, greener mobility solutions to customers and act as a catalyst towards the Government’s roadmap of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
