Telecom Minister, Manoj Sinha Informed Lok Sabha that total 472.72 million wireless internet subscribers are there in India and over 30% of which are in the rural areas.
Manoj Sinha said, “as on March 31 this year, there are 472.72 million wireless Internet subscribers and out of these 328.83 million are in urban areas and 143.89 — which comes to 30.44 per cent — are in rural areas”.
He also stated that Mobile internet penetration has seen major changes in the last four years in the country. The Minister informed that the government is building 7,000 telecom towers in the villages of the North East to provide connectivity to over 8,600 villages.
