Ramping up AI, automotive, and data centre chip design to lead the semiconductor race, Hero Electronix subsidiary Tessolve aims to boost its global edge with ₹4 billion acquisition of the German Dream Chip.
Tessolve, a semiconductor design firm owned by Hero Electronix, has acquired Dream Chip Technologies, a Germany-based company, for ₹4 billion. Through this acquisition, Tessolve plans to enhance its design capabilities, particularly in creating more complex processors, and boost its competitive edge in the global semiconductor market.
Dream Chip specialises in chip and system-on-chip design for AI, automotive, data centres, and industrial applications. It will continue to operate as a separate brand under Tessolve.
According to the company, the acquisition is an all-cash deal. With this, Tessolve will gain stronger access to European markets and expand its regional presence, adding four new delivery locations across Germany and the Netherlands.
Tessolve’s European workforce will further grow, improving its engineering bandwidth and enabling the company to take on larger projects.
Commenting on the matter, Tessolve’s chairman, Ujjwal Munjal, emphasised the strategic value of the deal, responding to the growing demand for custom chip design. It is part of Tessolve’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its global presence and capabilities, including operations in 10 countries and semiconductor testing services for the key semiconductor companies.
Tessolve plans to expand its footprint globally, including the opening of new labs in the US, Singapore, and India. Tessolve’s solutions assist semiconductor companies in accelerating product development without requiring heavy investments in design, engineering, and testing.
