Department of Telecommunications secretary Anshu Prakash said that telecom is a critical sector with direct impact on economic growth, employment and other important domains like healthcare and agriculture and 5G will strengthen the connection while addressing the ASEAN-TRAI program on ‘capacity building and sharing of best practices in policy regulation and development’.
Prakash also mentioned that the telecom sector is playing a major role in empowering citizens, and contributing to better governance and increasing transparency. He added that digital connectivity is an important part in sectors like finance, agriculture and healthcare and with the advent of 5G, the linkage will become stronger.
Security of systems and data safety
At the event, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman, RS Sharma said that information and communications technologies are all pervasive. It is necessary to ensure security of systems and data safety. He also added that concepts like cyber security, data security, data privacy have become more relevant and everyone has to learn and appreciate the importance that these things will play in the future.
