The joint venture will utilize Tata Technologies’ digital engineering skills and Indian talent to support BMW Group’s global IT hubs’ software coding expansion and round-the-clock operations. It will concentrate on strategic software development, particularly for software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
The BMW Group and Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, have signed an agreement to create a Joint Venture (JV) for an automotive software and IT development hub in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
The JV’s execution is pending approval from relevant authorities. Bengaluru and Pune will host the main development and operations, while Chennai will focus on business IT solutions. Under the motto ‘engineer in India for the world’, the JV aims to enhance BMW Group’s software coding capabilities globally and operate 24/7. It will concentrate on strategic software development, including software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
The JV will address automated driving, infotainment, and digital services in automotive software, as well as digitalization and automation of product development, production, and sales in business IT. Initially, 100 trained Tata Technologies professionals will contribute to software projects, with the JV expected to grow significantly in the following years.
