Strategically placed from bustling city centres to serene tourist locales, these stations not only boost accessibility but also ensure a seamless, cashless charging experience.
Tata Power is advancing its efforts to prepare Karnataka for electric vehicles (EVs) by setting up more than 220 RFID-enabled charging stations throughout the state. These stations are thoughtfully located in key public areas such as urban centres, residential areas, hotels, shopping malls, office complexes, and along major highways. This strategic placement improves accessibility for EV users across the region. The RFID technology integrated into these charging stations allows cashless and contactless payments, providing a quick and hassle-free charging experience. This initiative aligns with Karnataka’s goals to adopt cleaner and more efficient transportation methods.
The network, known as EZ Charge, spans key locations from Bengaluru to cities like Mangaluru, Davangere, and Mysuru and extends to tourist hotspots such as Chikmagalur and Coorg. Additional cities enriched by EZ Charge include Hubli, Belgaum, and Gulbarga. Charging stations are accessible at notable venues like the Taj, Park, and Oberoi hotels, as well as Tata Croma and Tanishq stores.
In Bengaluru alone, the company has set up more than 150 charging points in essential areas like Devanahalli and Electronic City, significantly reducing the distance electric vehicle owners need to travel to recharge. Tata Power has also formed alliances with prominent builders and residential communities, such as Brigade Gardenia and Divyashree Elan Homes, to integrate these facilities into everyday living spaces. Further collaborations with commercial entities like Decathlon and Titan enhance Tata Power’s network, reinforcing its leadership in Karnataka’s EV infrastructure. These partnerships are instrumental in achieving the state’s ambitious electric mobility targets.
The company’s proactive role in shaping a sustainable mobility landscape is evident in Karnataka and across India. The company is a major force in the electric vehicle charging sector, backed by collaborations with various state governments and municipal bodies. It boasts an expansive EZ Charge network that includes 530 cities and towns, over 86,000 home chargers, 5,300 public charging stations, and 850 bus-charging stations situated in critical locations nationwide.
By focusing on the strategic placement of charging stations and fostering significant partnerships, the company is crucial in promoting EV adoption and supporting India’s transition to sustainable transportation solutions.
