After a successful acquisition of the North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha (NESCO), Tata Power is now set to handle the mantle of its management and operations. Additionally, the integrated power utility will now function under the name of TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPNODL).
Tata Power holds 51 per cent of equity with management control, while the state-owned GRIDCO will have an equity stake of 49 per cent, according to an order issued by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).
With a license period of 25 years, TPNODL will now handle the distribution and retail supply of electricity for five circles of NESCO covering a geographical area of more than 27,500 sq km, along with a network of more than 90,000 CKT km with close to 2 million consumers with annual input energy of 5450 MUs in Balasore, Bhadrak, Baripada, Jaipur and Keonjhar districts.
