Tata Power To Set Up 25000 EV Charging Stations Across India

Tata Power showcased its EV charging app EZ Charge which provides the details of the nearest charging station to the users.

Tata Power intends to set up 25,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across India to support faster adoption of e-mobility over the next five years.

The company said it intends to provide over 3,600 public or semi-public chargers and more than 23,500 residential chargers. Tata Motors said many of these charging stations will be equipped with fast-charging technology and located at various strategic locations, such as malls, hotels, airports, and office complexes.

Tata Power showcased its EV charging network, EZ Charge, at the Auto Expo 2023 in Noida. The company said that its EV charging app, Tata Power EZ Charge was one of the most downloaded apps for EV charging.

The app helps commuters find the nearest charging station, know the real-time availability of charging points, and receive updates on charging status, amongst many others, the company stated.

Business development head of EV Charging, at Tata Power, Virendra Goyal said, “The demand for electric vehicles is steadily increasing in India therefore it is important to have a robust pan-India charging network. We are excited to present our products and technologies, which make Tata Power India’s leading EV charging solutions provider.”

The company also displayed information about Tata Power’s Network Operations Center (NOC) located in Mumbai which aids the management and operations of charging stations across India. NOC is integrated with the online platform that supports Tata Power’s EZ Charge services. It has a real-time communication link with all onboard chargers and aids in the early detection of tech-related issues. The NOC additionally supports quick problem-solving, back-end system support, and proactive planning for charging infrastructure upkeep.
