Aiming to enhance green mobility across Indian metropolitan cities, Tata Power and Tata Motors have joined hands to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles.
Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors Limited to develop 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles (CVs) across metro cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
This partnership aims to enhance the easy availability of accessible charging options in almost 1,000 planned locations for smaller E-commercial vehicles, providing sustainable mobility solutions.
According to the deal, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions will set up these fast-charging stations and offer special pricing for Tata Motors’ electric CV owners, thereby reducing operational costs and increasing profitability.
Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head of the SCV&PU segment at Tata Motors, mentioned that this partnership will also seek ways to maximise renewable energy usage for greener EV operations.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy, emphasised that this collaboration reinforces their commitment to accelerating e-mobility through a robust and reliable EV charging network across India.
Currently, Tata Power’s EZ Charge network features over 1,000,000 residential chargers, more than 5,500 public and semi-public charging points, and over 1,100 bus charging stations in 530 cities and towns, located in areas such as roads, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, and residential complexes.
