Saturday, August 23, 2014: It has been announced by Tata Power Solar that they will make a supply of 1 lakh solar panels, which are domestically manufactured, to ACME’s 20MW Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) project in Rajasthan. The company has won the order, which is the largest among DCR orders of JNNSM phase 2 batch 1.
The entire module requirement will be supplied by the company for the project which will be built by ACME Solar. ACME Solar is a leading solar power developer in India. The announcement has been made through a release by the company. The release has revealed that 1,00,000 modules and constituting 60,00,000 cells are needed for the project and they will be manufactured at TPS’ state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bangalore.
ACME Solar won projects of 100MW during the last year’s JNNSM bidding and among this, 20MW, under the Domestic Content Requirement policy of MNRE, requires modules and cells which have been manufactured at the domestic front. ACME Solar is a joint venture of three companies – ACME, France based EDF Energies Nouvelles and Luxembourg-based natural resources saving group EREN. Rahul Budhwar, VP for Manufacturing and Business Development, Tata Power Solar, said, “We are looking forward to a strategic relationship with ACME and EDF and, in the process, contributing to the success of JNNSM by providing world-class modules at competitive prices.”
