Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPPD) has now decided to to install 2.5 lakh power capital in the first phase in national capital to keep a tap on power consumption.
This project will be carried out its licensed area of 510 sq km in North and North-West Delhi. The implementation work will commence from March 2018 will get complete by March 19, as per media reports.
The first phase of the project will cost around Rs 1 billion and the entire project of installing about 18 lakh smart meters will be completed in the next 7-8 years with a cost of Rs 20 billion. Company CEO and MD Praveer Sinha claims that it is one of the largest project in country that have several benefits ranging from informing consumers about their power consumption patters to keeping a close eye on meter tempering and power theft.
Prior to this, the TPPD has also launched rebate scheme on energy-efficient ceiling fans in the month of June. Under this scheme, the company sold five-star rated fans to its customer at a discounted rate for five months.
