Wednesday, June 04, 2014: In yet another attempt to make Indian greener, Tata Power has commissioned a 25 Megawatt capacity solar farm in the state of Maharashtra. The solar farm in Palawadi, Maharashtra, is the second solar power project from the company.
The 25 MW solar photovoltaic power project has been developed through its subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL). According to a company statement, the overall cost of the project is Rs 2,500 million and it is funded through debt and equity. The company has joined hands with IDFC Ltd in February this year for the entire debt requirement. The first loan disbursement happened on February 28, 2014.
This project from Tata Power was ready by last week of March but could not be connected to the state grid due to non-availability of shutdown in existing lines and substations, the statement said.
This solar power makes use of Crystalline Silicon Photo-Voltaic Technology and is expected to generate 46 million units of solar power per year. Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power, said, “We are delighted to announce the commissioning of yet another large solar project of 25 MW.” With this plant, the company has over 56 MW of solar and 461 MW of wind projects.
