The solar energy subsidiary of Tata Power Co Ltd has received a Letter of Award from NTPC Ltd for a 300 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project. Tata Power said that the project was secured in a reverse bidding auction held in February at an all-inclusive price of Rs 17.3 billion.
This capacity was tendered under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU)-II program. It requires all cells and modules to be locally manufactured. The project will be executed within 18 months. The commercial operation and grid-connection are scheduled for September 2021. Tata Power said it will use its own cells and modules.
Rooftop solar service (RTS) to 90 cities across India
In September 2019, NTPC selected Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd to develop a 105-MWp floating solar array in a water reservoir in Kayamkulam, Kerala. Recently, Tata Power said that it has expanded its rooftop solar service (RTS) to 90 cities across India. It said that the rollout had come out at a time then consumers across all major categories like commercial, industrial, residential and public sectors are adopting solar energy.
