Under the partnership, the companies plan to deploy around 500 electric vehicles across 20 cities in India within a year, and contribute to the country’s electric mobility mission
Tata Motors has partnered with the self-drive rental platform, Zoomcar, to offer its Tata Tigor electric cars on rent to Pune residents.
Shailesh Chandra, President, Electric Mobility Business and Corporate Strategy, Tata Motors, and Zoomcar’s Co-founder and CEO Greg Moran flagged off the first batch of Tata Tigor EVs in Pune. The plan is to roll out around 500 Tigors across 20 cities in the next one year.
Partnership to boost electric mobility
Greg expressed his delight in partnering with Tata to introduce EVs in Pune. “This marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership within electric mobility and we expect to touch 20 cities and 500 electric vehicles with Tata over the next year,” Autocar Professional quoted the Zoomcar CEO.
Tata Motors is of the opinion that the future of mobility will increasingly be connected, shared and powered by zero-emission technologies. This partnership, according to the company, aims to enable zero-emission transport option for the citizens of Pune. Tata Motors says that it is committed to the government’s vision of driving electric mobility in the country and is working in a collaborative manner with various ecosystem partners to facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles.
Tata Tigor overview
Tata Tigor electric car is powered by a 30-kW electric motor and a 216 mAh battery pack. It takes around 90 minutes to achieve 80 per cent charge and offers a range of 130 km and a top speed of 100 kmph.
It has a dual front airbag, wheel covers, manual central locking system and power windows at the front and rear. It also has a speed sensitive door locks along with a central lock with auto lock feature. In terms of infotainment, it has a Harman system with four speakers, AM/FM, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.
