With the opening of its xG-Force laboratory in Bengaluru, Tata Elxsi aims to drive 5G innovation, providing infrastructure and tools for various sectors, with Boost Mobile as the first beneficiary.
Tata Elxsi, a global design and technology services company, launched its ‘xG-Force’ lab in Bengaluru last week. This facility aims to enhance 5G innovation by providing ready-to-use infrastructure, advanced tools, and an integrated partner ecosystem for applications across the transportation, healthcare, and media sectors.
The lab has been established in partnership with various industry leaders, hyperscalers, and chip manufacturers, including RedHat for Private Cloud, AccuKnox for Cloud & Application Security, i2i Systems for 5G Core, and Rebaca for testing tools. Tata Elxsi plans to broaden this collaboration with other global partners.
As the systems integrator for this initiative, Tata Elxsi will develop and integrate 5G applications using its platforms, including Neuron for autonomous networks, TETHER for connected vehicles, TEngage for digital health, and TEDAx for big data engineering. This integration aims to deliver AI-driven innovations and communication technologies.
Besides, the lab will focus on areas such as streaming media, private 5G networks, connected and electric vehicles, network charging stations, digital health, aerospace, and Industry 4.0 solutions for smart factories.
It also aims to assist in transportation safety and healthcare data security, delivering an ultra-low latency essential for the future of interactive entertainment.
Boost Mobile, formerly the US-based DISH Wireless, will be the first beneficiary of the lab’s offerings. The lab is expected to benefit customers by reducing operational expenses (OPEX) through AI-led operations and facilitating new revenue streams. Thus, it will foster a data-driven innovation ecosystem and support the subscription economy.
The inauguration event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Manoj Raghavan, MD & CEO of Tata Elxsi and Kevin Plunkett, Vice President of Cloud Services at Boost Mobile.
Conveying his enthusiasm on the matter, Manoj Raghavan remarked, “We are honoured to collaborate with Boost Mobile as our lead customer in shaping the future of 5G networks. By combining our expertise in digital engineering, automation, AI, and industry-specific applications, we aim to create transformative solutions for both consumers and enterprises.”
Kevin Plunkett added, “We are excited to see this lab enable innovative 5G use cases and support our network plans in the United States. Like EchoStar’s Open RAN Centre for Integration and Deployment in Wyoming, this lab is essential for driving industry innovation and setting higher standards.”
Furthermore, Rahul Jadhav, CTO and Co-founder of AccuKnox, commended the initiative, noting that the lab will facilitate the rapid adoption of 5G technologies in a collaborative environment while promoting cost-effective operations.
