Aiming to enhance local chip production and leverage Tata’s upcoming projects in India, Tata Group and Analog Devices have joined hands to upscale semiconductor manufacturing.
On Wednesday, Tata Group announced its partnership with global semiconductor company Analog Devices (ADI) to explore semiconductor manufacturing opportunities in India in a joint statement.
The companies have revealed that this deal is important as the government is actively working to create a strong electronics manufacturing sector in the country for local and international markets.
Tata Electronics, Tata Motors, and Tejas Networks have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ADI to enhance collaboration. They will explore semiconductor manufacturing in India and integrate ADI’s products into applications like electric vehicles and network infrastructure. The partnership will also focus on electronics hardware for energy storage, power electronics in vehicles, and network infrastructure components.
Last month, Tata Group established the groundwork for a semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility in Morigaon, Assam, with an investment of ₹270 billion.
Furthermore, Tata Electronics is establishing India’s first wafer fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, which is anticipated to begin operations by December 2026.
The statement mentioned that Tata Electronics and ADI plan to investigate possibly producing ADI’s products at Tata Electronics’ fab in Gujarat and the OSAT facility in Assam.
Vincent Roche, CEO and Chair of ADI, expressed that combining their semiconductor solutions and software expertise with Tata’s vision would accelerate the development of innovative technologies like electric vehicles and next-generation network infrastructure.
He emphasised that their collaboration would enhance India’s semiconductor ecosystem and shape the future of global electronics manufacturing.
