According to the latest data from the newly introduced EV-ready India dashboard, Tamil Nadu is projected to reach nearly 1.5 million electric vehicle sales by 2030.
The dashboard, introduced by the OMI Foundation in collaboration with Union power minister RK Singh, representatives from the central and state governments, Niti Aayog, World Bank, and other entities, predicts that Tamil Nadu will experience a compounded annual growth rate of over 47.35% from 2022 to 2030, culminating in 14.88 lakh EV sales.
Tamil Nadu is on the path to becoming a significant manufacturing centre for high-speed electric two-wheelers. The annual battery demand in the state is anticipated to hit 5 GWh, and 450 public charging stations are currently available.
Initially, the dashboard predicts that India will see more than 1.6 crore annual EV deployments by 2030. This dashboard stands out as it gathers sales data from all Vahan states and Telangana and provides insights into the charging infrastructure, demand patterns, and total cost of ownership comparisons. This makes it a valuable resource for potential EV buyers. Furthermore, it offers insights into the present investment environment for EVs and provides predictions on market expansion and key EV regions in the country.
