The fund will be utilized to innovate and expand market reach, says the company
Synthetic speech technology startup Murf AI recently announced that it has raised $10 Million in Series A Funding Round. Led by Matrix Partners India, the latest round greeted some major angel investors like Ola co-founder Ankit Bhati, Drip Capital founder Pushkar Mukewar, Mad Street Den co-founder Ashwini Asokan, Vymo founder Yamini Bhat, and Ajay Arora, SVP Product, Disney Streaming, along with the existing investor Elevation Capital. The company says that it will invest this fund in furthering its R&D and product innovation while also expanding in different geographies.
On the occasion, co-founder and CEO of the startup, Ankur Edkie stated: “Synthetic media is poised to become omnipresent in the near future and voice is at the core of it. At Murf, we continue to make advances in our speech technology to bring the diverse abilities of talented voice actors at our customers’ fingertips through AI. This Series A investment would further bolster our commitment towards simplifying and scaling voiceovers.”
Elevation Capital co-managing partner Mukul Arora said, “AI-driven, life-like voiceovers are the next frontier in the text-to-speech market. Murf, with their stellar founding team and unique IP, is perfectly poised to gain a leadership position in this space. Their execution prowess and tech-first focus is evident in the solid traction and growth that they’ve demonstrated so far. We are really excited to double down on our partnership with Murf.”
Murf was established in 2020 by IIT-Kharagpur classmates Sneha Roy, Ankur Edkie and Divyanshu Pandey. It features an AI-enabled SaaS tool with which users can generate “human-like” voiceovers for videos and presentations without any complex recording equipment or voice artist. Currently, Murf has a collection of over 120 human-parity AI voices across 20 languages. As per the company, it has grown 26x in ARR since its seed round and synthesized over a million voiceover projects featuring different speaking styles and tones.
