Cybermedia Research Mobile Industry Consumer Insight has revealed an interesting shift in the OnePlus smartphone segment
CMR MICI-led latest survey has revealed that an increasing number of premium smartphone users are opting for OnePlus over Apple’s iPhone, Samsung and Vivo. The survey conducted across New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai has come up with the changing trends in the smartphone market in India.

Around 59 per cent participants, in the 18-32 age-group, prefer OnePlus over iPhones. Participants above 40 years have also shown their inclination towards the emerging smartphone brand, with around 15 per cent totally in favour of OnePlus. Around 12 per cent of the respondents, who own phones costing over Rs 50,000 are eyeing to switch to this brand. Interestingly, the study has found that 65 per cent users consider OnePlus as the brand that one can flaunt.
Key drivers in smartphones market
The CMR MICI survey has found out the potential key driving features behind the consumers’ choice of smartphone brands. Devices that have new designs, upgraded performances, high speed and an enhanced gaming experience are mostly preferred by users. Such users looking for upgraded phones in every 1-2 years account for nearly 83 per cent. In-screen fingerprint sensors, wireless charging and virtual reality support systems are the other features that attract consumers.
According to the survey, the OnePlus brand has gained popularity among the existing users of Apple (6 per cent), Samsung (15 per cent) and Vivo (16 per cent). However, Apple was found to be the preferred choice of the existing 6 per cent of OnePlus and around 18 per cent of Oppo users.
