Wednesday, October 16, 2013: Sunil Misra has been appointed as the new Director General of the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA). He has an experience of about 30 years in the industry.
For the uninitiated, IEEMA is the apex industry association that represents the Indian electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment industry with over 800 members.
Misra said, “I am proud to be a part of IEEMA. IEEMA is a 66-year-old body representing the over Rs 1,30,000 crore Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry which provides direct and indirect employment to over 1.5 million people. IEEMA is one of the most prominent industry associations of the country and is playing an important role in nation building. I am delighted to be a part of the efforts IEEMA is undertaking for enhancing the global competitiveness of the industry and I hope I will help them in their mission.”
Before IEEMA, Misra was the Head of Public Policy in the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He was also the head of CII’s UP state office and Madhya Pradesh state office. Reportedly, he was the one who established the East Asia Office of CII in Shanghai and served as the Chief Representative of China office.
